Daddy Dia - Review
Performed by the Watlington group - June 2022
The audience of lucky locals were delighted to be recently entertained by none other than Agga, Wozzy Wozbourne and Spiggy Golddust amongst other greats at the recent ‘CatKids’ Summer Musical. Icknield’s Drama studio was transformed into a Discotheque and we were transported back to the 1970’s – a time of disco, punk rock, Bowie, flares and big hair! And boy did the company of youngsters embrace it! With a bit of Sweden thrown in (the land of Abba!), therefore why not Ikea, Thor and Vikings; not to mention ‘Eurovision’ for good measure – and we were entertained by Mike Hurst’s bonkers story of ‘Daddy Dia’!
There were some great characters, delivering funny lines with some shoulder-moving and toe tapping numbers like ‘Ch-ch-changes’, ‘We like to boogie’ and ‘Waterloo’ belted out by the cast. There were two performances, well supported by enthusiastic audiences and the cast of 17 rose to the occasion. It would be hard to mention any cast members in particular as all gave 100%.
Congratulations to them all and the group’s director Alexis Cheesman and her team.
